Today we started off in two different cars. I know what you are thinking. We couldn't even make it on the road w/o fighting? But, it is not true...yet! Actually we took the Expedition up to stay with a friend while we are gone and I drove the Edge and followed Joe to Flagstaff where we left the car and finally got on the road together....ROUTE 66...I40...all the way to Barstow, and our first Comfort Suites.
Really not much to see but desolate desert and more desolate desert. However, we did stop in Seligman at a delightful Route66 restaurant, called the Roadkill Cafe! Mmmm, that made me eager to eat there!! Joe says only the best for his Karen! 
Then it was more desert driving till we stopped at this Route66 desert oasis. 
So, a safe, but un eventful day. I read the first chapter of Gone Girl to Joe thinking he'd love the book as much as I did. Pretty much totally wrong about that when he asked me, "When does this book get to be good?" That was pretty much the end of the educational portion of the trip. I did get excited when he asked if I'd read some more to him! I said, (ever hopeful) "Sure!" What do you want me to read to you?" Then, (hopes dashed), he said, "Could you find some dumb blond jokes to read?" End of roadtrip bonding!!!
Tell Joe that I didn't like the first chapter either but then it gets good!
